sicky sickerson--my longest entry yet!
My Valentine Day was less than great. I called my dad last night to tell him I was sick (more about that later) and he told me that his wife had left him. She just packed up all her stuff and left. He got home from work and said she and all of her stuff was GONE. She left a message on his answering machine saying that she was fine, but she couldn't be with him anymore and that her lawyer would be contacting him. He said it was because after Natalie was born, she started in on wanting a baby, and he said he was too old, etc. I feel SO bad for him..for both of them actually. My dad will be 53 on Friday, so he is too old for a new baby. His wife is only 35, so she still has time. I just feel BAD for him. So yeah, Im sick. Yesterday I woke with a sore throat and drainage. So I ate some cereal, got ready and went to work at 11:00. It was kinda busy. After about 30 minutes, I started feeling yucky. I just felt "off". I couldn't tell what was wrong. After about another half hour I started feeling really light headed, my vision was fuzzy and my heart felt like it was going to bust of out my chest. I was helping a customer, and it was like torture just keeping on my feet. It sounds silly, but I felt like I was going to have a heart attack. Everyone at work started freaking out because *I* was freaking out. They had me lay down behind the watch case, and Angie took my pulse. It was 132! Which is super high. So Judy called my doctors office and told them what was happening and asked if I should come in and they said yes, come in immediately. When I got there they took my blood pressure, which was 128--the highest Ive ever had. And they took my pulse, which was 122, the highest Ive ever had. Ive gone there since I was a little kid, and the highest my pulse had ever been was 112, and that was in 1998. The nurse told me my pulse being that high was a concern, because I hadn't done any strenuous activities. I had basically been sitting or laying down most of the time at work. Then they took my temp. I had a fever of 102! I was so freaked out by being light headed and my heart thing that I didnt even REALIZE I had a fever. So they did a strep test which was negative, but I have some kind of infection. They took blood from my arm, and my blood pressure was so high that that after she pulled the needle out, blood kept coming with it. The blood filled an entire cotton ball before it stopped :( I started crying when that happened because I felt weak after they took my blood, and it scared me. They did an EKG on me, and Im scheduled for an echo-cardiogram on Thursday. I got an awful shot on my hip that made my whole right side burn and hurt. I could barely drive the car home it hurt so bad. I could hardly make it up my front steps.
Im sure its mitrol valve prolapse..Ive never technically been tested for it, but my dad has & he was actually released from the military because of it. I bet since I had such a high fever, it made my heart go wonky. Its kind of scary thinking something could be wrong, but its about time I had it checked out. Ive had several episodes where Ive passed out, or nearly passed out, and now I can maybe find out why. My dad said the worse thing could be if I DO have mitrol valve prolapse, the valve that has issues could be infected, and that could be really bad.
Nathan was SO great yesterday though. I left work so quickly and went to the doctors office that I didnt get a chance to call him and tell him what was going on. Well he called work to talk to me, and they told him what happened. He freaked out and called me wanting to know what was wrong. I told him I didnt know, they were going to run some tests, etc. He LEFT WORK to come stay with me at the doctors office for THREE HOURS. Then he went to the store and got me soup and yogurt. By the time he got home, I decided I wanted popcicles so he went BACK to the store, without a complaint, and got popcicles for me. Then while American Idol was on, he made some mashed potatos for me. He didnt let me up from the sofa, if I wanted anything he got it for me. Its so nice to be taken care of!

I will keep you posted. Nathan has to work tomorrow, so my dad is going to go to the echocardiograph with me---for moral support :) Im feeling a lot better today, my fever has gone down.
I had never had an ekg before, when the doctor told me they were going to do one, I got so scared because I had no idea what it was! It was a piece of cake though.
