has everyone done their taxes?!

I had a family filled weekend. My mom, step-dad and step-brother were in town on Saturday. We went out to lunch together. It was fun---we mainly sat at Backyard Burger and talked about how much we love the tv show '24'. Nathan and I have NO LIVES! We have pretty much spent every free second of our weekend watching 24 on DVD. We just finished Season 1 last night. (SO GOOD!)
Then on Easter Sunday, we spent the day with my dad and brother. We went to lunch at O'Charleys--the food and service was awful. We saw a movie---'Lucky Number Slevin'. It was long, boring and stupid.

I guess it was better than sitting in front of the tv all day though :) My brother gave me this adorable picture of Nate and Lochlan. I just love it.

there is a light and it never goes out..

This is how I feel today. Tired. Lazy. Unmotivated. I need to snap out of it!! Ryan, if you are reading this, you already know all about it.

My night last night was so FRUSTRATING! To say the least. I just could not fall asleep. I dont understand it. I dont drink caffeine. I was TIRED. But I couldn't fall asleep. I was hot, then cold, then the moon was shining through the curtains. Then my cat jumped on me. Then I had to get up and pee. I tried everything..I changed what I was wearing, I tried to relax and try breathing deep. Nothing worked! When I FINALLY got to sleep..about two hours after I had laid down---I had nightmares! Over and over. I wont get into them, they were too horrible. *sigh* I hate nights like those.

In entertainment news...Nathan and I have started watching the first season of 24 on DVD. Gahhhh! SO GOOD! We care more about that show than each other, seems like. Nathan called me at work yesterday, Im thinking 'Aww, how sweet. He wants to chat'. NOPE. He wanted to make sure we were gonna watch 24 after American Idol. I should have known :)

I have a lot of pet peeves. I don't like smelling smoke. I cant stand "close talkers". I don't really want my foods touching each other on my plate. There is one thing I hate worse than anything else though..I HATE being taken advantage of!! I had the worst case of it yesterday.

Earlier this week, I made an appointment to get my hair trimmed. Nathan and I have a friend that does hair, and we go to him for hair cuts every time. My appointment was at 2:00. I got there at 1:45. I didn't LEAVE the salon until after 4:00!!! WHY you ask? First, the haircutter guy I know was just finishing up with someone else. He said he would be done in just a minute. Turns out he knew the guy, and wouldn't stop talking to him. He actually asked me to get him something to drink at the food court. I did, because I am so nice. When he FINALLY got to me, he said he wanted to shampoo my hair. Which was fine. I told him I didn't want it styled though, cause that costs extra, and I can do that at home. So he did a "conditioning treatment" that cost me an extra $5 (without telling me that it was extra) THEN he stuck me under the heater for 25 minutes while HE LEFT the salon to go to Starbucks. I was SO irritated. Then when he actually cut my hair, it took less than ten minutes. I wasted over two hours of my afternoon off because I was taken advantage of. Its even worse that we know each other, and it seems all he was doing was trying to get me to spend more money. It was all very irritating. Why has it become so difficult to get things done?!

dead plants, four leaf clovers, in-laws and walking...

I adopted two small bamboo plants last week. They belonged to my step mom, she left them when she and my dad broke up. Ive nearly killed them both. The leaves are turning white and getting thin just in the week since Ive had them! Poor things. Maybe Im overwatering. Maybe they have mad cow disease.

Nathan and I love going to the thrift store. We have found some really cool things there. Nathan found a brand new Ralph Lauren suit for $20. I love to read, so I always go through the books. I bought a copy of 'The Thornbirds' last time we went. It was a hardback copy for only 99 cents. I began reading it this past week. I have found FIVE pressed four leaf clovers in it! The first one I found in it I thought 'Wow! A four leaf clover!' Ive since then found four more pressed between the pages. Its really cool..especially with St. Patricks Day coming up.

I had the in-laws visiting this past weekend, which was fun...but stressful! The in-laws always send me into a whirlwind of work. I felt the need to clean every surface in my house, even in rooms that I knew they wouldn't be in. I should have just put up a sign that says "Your son chose a good wife!" Other than that, my weekend was pretty uneventful. I have begun a new exercise regiment. When we went to Cheaha last weekend I got sort of winded just walking around the trails. I thought to myself "this is NOT the shape I need to be in at 24!" I don't need to lose any weight, but I do need to be in better shape. I am SO SORE! I didn't realize how hilly our neighborhood was until I got out there walking. Im not doing anything major, just trying to take more walks when I can, and since I get up before 7 AM now, I try to get a little bit of exercise in the morning before work. Im SORE though!!

So I had an awful experience yesterday.A few months ago, I heard screaming outside my house and witnessed a man abusing his NAKED wife, so I had to call 911. I had to do it again yesterday, but for much worse reasons. I was getting ready for work when I heard screaming. I ran to my living room window, and I saw the same guy who attacked the woman before---Im guessing she is his wife or girlfriend, because she lives in the house with him, and three small children, a baby, a toddler, and a 5-6 year old boy. The woman was holding a baby in a cartseat, the baby was maybe 7-8 months old. The guy grabbed the carseat and threw it to the ground like it was a bag of trash. He then got down on the ground and started PUNCHING THE BABY. I dont mean slapping it around either, he was full on PUNCHING the baby all over. I freaked out. I ran to get my cell phone, I was shaking like crazy. I called 911 and told them what was happening. The guy stopped hitting the baby. A neighbor came out and got the baby from the car seat--the baby was SCREAMING. The woman then was holding their 2 year old baby in her arms. The man started chasing her, and when he caught up to her, he started punching HER in the face. Everyone was screaming. I didnt go out to help, because if that guy could punch a baby, he could punch me too---so I did what I could, I called 911. I have never seen anything like this before. He is obviously abusive. Ive called 911 for him abusing her before. SHE made the decision to stay with him, even though its obviously a dangerous situation. But CHILDREN do NOT deserve to be around that. The cops arressted the guy but who is to say anything will change?? I would just like to say I dont live in a dangerous neighborhood---everyone on my street are older couples..but these people are just trash. They have cars and junk all in their yard, their kids run around with no clothes on, etc. Ive seen the kids playing outside with NO supervision. I hope this never happens again :(

rocky mountain high...

When I was a little girl, I LOVED going up to Cheaha. We always had family reunions with my dads side of the family there. Everything about going there reminds me of barbeque, riding four wheelers, and hiking. It seemed so huge, even though compared to other mountains its really small. The weather was gorgeous today, so Nathan and I decided to get outside. We got lost, of course. We get lost everywhere we go. Even if we have directions. We hiked a bit, but mainly just goofed off and took pictures.

This picture I took with my arm out wide----I didnt even know Nathan was behind me. I thought it came out really cute :)

The view! It was hazy today.

Nathan and I took turns taking pictures of each other. It was pretty windy.

These are a couple pictures from Cheaha when I was little. Pretty embarrassing actually, my brother and I look so trashy in the first one!
